Coca-Cola Moves to No. 2 on DiversityInc
Top 50 List

April 2, 2008

The Coca-Cola Company was named No. 2 on the 2008 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list, up from No. 4 in 2007. Our Company is the only company to-date to achieve a top-five ranking for three consecutive years. Learn more about our diversity efforts.

The DiversityInc survey is one of the most comprehensive and prestigious diversity surveys for companies of more than 1,000 employees. Companies that are named to the list demonstrate consistent strength in four key areas: CEO commitment -- the most heavily weighted factor, human capital, corporate communications and supplier diversity.

According to DiversityInc, Top 50 companies have clarity of their absolute values of human dignity, demonstrating a global adherence to these core beliefs. These sustainable values drive margin.

This recognition is especially important in view of the independent analysis behind it. It speaks to the commitment of our leadership and our workforce.

The rankings help us because we know that associates, customers, consumers, suppliers and investors want to know how our Company is doing and if we are making progress. It also helps prospective associates decide if they want to work here. For current or prospective business partners, it helps them make a decision on whether they want to do business with us.

In 2008, a total of 352 companies competed in The 2007 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity® ranking, a 100 percent increase over the last five years and a 10 percent increase over last year.

DiversityInc is a monthly business magazine published by DiversityInc Media LLC, a privately owned company with no outside investors. Launched in 2002 as an extension of DiversityInc.com, DiversityInc magazine and its daily news site are the nation's leading sources of information for cutting-edge knowledge of the business case for diversity.

DiversityInc Survey Methodology
Now in its 8th year, the DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list is determined entirely by a statistical analysis of responses to our 200-question survey.

  • The survey is sent to any company requesting it that has more than 1,000 employees.
  • There is no fee to enter and no requirement to advertise.
  • The methodology is unbiased and is completely independent of business conducted with DiversityInc.
  • Companies are assessed within the context of their industry, company size, geographical reach and employee skill sets.
  • There are 200 questions involved in the survey, almost all of which ask for quantitative data.
  • Survey questions are fairly consistent year to year, with the heaviest emphasis on CEO commitment.
  • In 2008, questions were added on Native Americans, CEO commitment, mentoring, work/life balance, management retention, people with disabilities and GLBT people.
