Coca-Cola India Restores 300-year-old Well in Jaipur February 4, 2008
Jaipur Mayor Shri Ashok Parnami recently dedicated a 300-year-old
community step well refurbished by Coca-Cola India. The second
well renovated by Coca-Cola India in Rajasthan in conjunction
with the Jaipur Municipal Corporation will improve the community's
access to water for domestic purposes.
Coca-Cola India worked with the Jaipur Municipal Corporation,
expert hydrogeologists, the Rajasthan State Ground Water Department,
local temple managers and local citizens to restore the Bawari.
The project involved the removal of silt, rubble and algae;
repairs to the site in traditional "Jaipuri" style;
and reopening the facility for use. Nearly 5,000 local residents
will benefit from improved access to water resources.
