Products And Packaging Rumors
Rumor: DASANI®
does not hydrate properly due to salt content |
 |
Our
Response: DASANI contains 0.50 milligrams of
sodium per 8-ounce serving. Under the Food and Drug Administration's
rules governing the Nutrition Facts panel on a product label,
if a serving of a food (240mL in the case of DASANI) contains
less than 5mg of sodium, then that quantity is considered nutritionally
insignificant and must be listed in the Nutrition Facts panel
as "0mg."
You may be interested to know that your local tap water also
contains sodium. The amount of sodium in the local water supply
varies greatly across the country. The amount of sodium in your
local water supply may be available by calling your water company.
The average amount of sodium in US tap water can be found in
the Nutrient
Database maintained by the US Department of Agriculture.
