CNN Explores How Coca-Cola Became an Iconic Brand

CNN International's "Icon" series
September 23, 2010

CNN International's "Icon" series recently looked at how an aggressive marketing strategy and relentless focus on building consumer connections through strong storytelling have made Coca-Cola the world's No. 1 brand.

The six-minute segment features interviews with Phil Mooney, Director of Heritage Communications; David Butler, VP of Global Design; and Wendy Clark, Senior VP, Integrated Marketing Communications and Capabilities. The spot explores how our iconic contour bottle, unparalleled global scale and winning advertising have combined to create a secret formula for growth, "rocketing Coca-Cola to 1.6 billion drinks sold worldwide -- a far cry from the nine drinks that an inventive pharmacist served in downtown Atlanta back in 1886."
