The Coca-Cola Central, East and West Africa (CEWA) office in Cameroon recently donated medical supplies, equipment and medicine valued at US$9.6 million (CFA 4.3 billion) to support the development of the country's health care sector.
The donation follows last year's agreement between Coca-Cola, Ad Lucem (a nongovernment organization) and Douala General Hospital. Under the partnership, Ad Lucem received approximately US$9 million (CFA 4 billion) worth of medicine, and Douala General Hospital received two 40-ft. containers filled with supplies and medical equipment valued at US$600,000 (CFA 300 million).
The delegation present at the handover ceremony visited a beneficiary health center to see the transformational impact the medicines are having on Cameroonian patients. The intervention has gone a long way to improve access to quality health care for needy populations.
The Coca-Cola/CitiHope partnership is based on Live Positively ( Live for a Difference), The Coca-Cola Company's sustainability commitment platform.
