John M. Farrell is Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of The Coca-Cola Company. The Strategic Planning function leads the development of the overall strategy of the Company along with the global planning process.
Mr. Farrell brings broad domestic and international experience to strategic planning, as he has held major operating roles in North America, Europe and Asia. Joining The Coca-Cola Company in 1979, Mr. Farrell began his career in the Company's Bottling Operations. From 1981to 1989, he worked in Coca-Cola North America (CCNA,) where he held positions in Marketing, Bottler Operations, Fountain and Business Planning. While in CCNA he and three colleagues created Diet Coke.
Mr. Farrell then spent 10 years in Asia, first in region management in Japan and subsequently, as President of Coca-Cola China, based in Hong Kong. From 1999 to 2005, he was based in London, initially as President of Schweppes Beverages, where he completed the merger of the 130 country operation into our Company in 2001, after which he was the director of Business Development and Strategy for Europe, Eurasia and Middle East. In 2005, he returned to Asia to lead the Corporate Strategy and Planning function for the Japan Business Unit. Mr. Farrell serves on the Board of Trustees of the Darden School of the University of Virginia, and the Advisory Board of the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Mr. Farrell has a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management from Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of Virginia. A native of the United States, he also holds a dual citizenship from the United Kingdom. |
