The Coca-Cola Company

April 21, 2006 edition

The Coca-Cola Company is ranked #3 on DiversityInc magazine's annual list of the Top 50 Companies for Diversity -- up three spots from last year. Launched in 2002 as an extension of DiversityInc.com, DiversityInc magazine is recognized as a leading source of information regarding the business case for diversity.

"The Coca-Cola Company's commitment to diversity starts with its CEO and extends to all aspects of its business," said Luke Visconti, partner and cofounder of DiversityInc. "As a Top 50 company, Coca-Cola demonstrated strong, unbiased recruitment and retention, as well as excellence in communications and supplier diversity. It is a commitment to these management practices that has earned Coca-Cola the recognition of the Top 50 list."

The annual list is derived from corporate survey submissions, with companies answering 200+ questions divided into four categories: CEO Commitment, Human Capital, Corporate Communications (internal and external) and Supplier Diversity. To apply for the Top 50, a company must have at least 1,000 U.S.-based employees.

A total of 256 companies, a 100 percent increase over the last three years, competed for a spot on the coveted list. New in 2006 was the requirement that companies on the Top 50 list demonstrate consistent strength in the four areas the survey measures. More weight was given this year to CEO Commitment, considered by DiversityInc to be the most crucial area.

"Diversity in the workplace begins with an actionable commitment, and The Coca-Cola Company is committed to making diversity, inclusion and fairness a long-term, sustainable part of our business strategy," said Steve Bucherati, director of Diversity and Workplace Fairness for the Company. "The commitment and support from Neville Isdell and Don Knauss, as well as guidance and counsel from our two Diversity Advisory Councils, has helped accelerate the progress we are making as a company. But while we're making genuine progress toward our goals and appreciate this recognition from DiversityInc, there's still much work to be done."

The Company was ranked #6 on DiversityInc's 2005 and 2004 lists.
