June 02, 2006 edition

Thai Pure Drinks Ltd (TPDL) and The Coca-Cola Foundation Thailand have provided immediate disaster relief to victims of the recent flooding in northern Thailand. A total of 3,800 packs -- 45,600 600ml bottles - of bottled water were donated to the disaster relief effort, with TPDL sales staff assisting in the distribution of the product.

At least 30 people have been killed and up to 100 are missing in what is considered the worst flooding to hit northern Thailand in 60 years. Mudslides have blocked roads to the mountainous Lab Lea district, where many of the victims are believed to have been swept away by floodwaters. Some 1,200 people have been evacuated and are staying in schools, temples and municipal halls and more than 103,000 have suffered damage to property.
