Hindustan The projects, implemented under the guidance of State Ground Water Department, potentially will create an annual groundwater recharge of more than 3.75 million liters at current average rainfall levels. Two of the three projects are rooftop rainwater harvesting projects -- one covers an area of 400 square meters and is connected to a well, while the other covers 1,240 square meters, with an annual recharge potential of more than 1.05 million liters of water. A large pond in Krishi Vigyan Kendra was desilted and its banks repaired. At current average rainfall levels, the pond can recharge more than 2.3 million liters of water annually, in addition to holding water. Future rainwater harvesting projects are planned in Krishi Bhawan, Lahartara, at the primary school building of Bhikharipur and the Mirzamurad Police station. Together, these projects have an annual ground water recharge potential of over 2.1 million liters. |
