At the annual National Governor’s Association meeting, Coca-Cola North America President and COO Don Knauss emphasized his division’s commitment to contributing toward finding the right solutions for America’s overall health and wellness during a discussion with U.S. governors.

Mr. Knauss was joined by representatives of PepsiCo and General Mills for the panel on how business and government can partner effectively to improve the health and overall wellness of all Americans.

Attending governors from all across the U.S. learned how the beverage industry developed and implemented the new school beverage guidelines. The guidelines, announced in May 2006, were created in collaboration with the American Beverage Association and the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a partnership that includes the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation.

Emphasizing the Company’s commitment to health and wellness, Mr. Knauss explained, "We start by offering a broad portfolio of products that refresh, hydrate and nourish consumers. We support programs that encourage physical activity and an active lifestyle. We provide consumers with information to help them make informed choices about beverages, and we act as a responsible marketer by adhering to guidelines that respect school classrooms as commercial-free zones."
