Delivering Results In Vietnam's Communities

September 1, 2006 edition

In partnership with the World Bank and the Ministry of Education & Training, Coca-Cola Vietnam recently sponsored Innovation Day 2006, a two-day program to identify and support innovative bottom-up development ideas that deliver results to disadvantaged children and youth in communities across Vietnam.

Innovation Day brought people together to address key social issues and to generate ideas which can be expanded or replicated. The Innovation Competition awarded 55 small start-up funds to social innovators who proposed ideas that bring people and institutions together and have the greatest scale-up potential. This year, more than 500 applicants from 54 provinces responded to the call for proposals, demonstrating a large volume of innovative local solutions to promote development and an improved quality of life for disadvantaged children and youth in Vietnam.

The Innovation event not only raised the profile of Vietnam’ s social concerns but also provided excellent opportunities for communities to network and share good practices and new ideas.
