Company Partners With UN Foundation, UNDP To Assist Tsunami-Hit Villages In Sri Lanka

September 29, 2006 edition

The Coca-Cola Company has teamed up with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Foundation (UN Foundation) to provide essential water infrastructure and sanitation services to two tsunami-hit villages in Sri Lanka.

A 1.25-mile pipeline will deliver safe drinking water to families in Kalupe via the Greater Galle Water Project. In Kattankudi -- one of Sri Lanka’s hardest-hit areas -- efforts are underway to implement a sustainable sanitation and wastewater management system, as well as rooftop rainwater harvesting units.

These initiatives in Sri Lanka are part of a broader partnership effort between our Company, the UN Foundation and the UNDP to support long-term tsunami recovery efforts throughout Asia.
